In the Summer of 2014, Promenade Promotions was commissioned by Exeter City Council to work with 25 artists to recreate a recruitment fair at the outbreak of the First World War in 1914. In Rougemont Gardens & RAMM (Royal Albert Memorial Museum), we created an authentic Edwardian music hall, a series of agility, observation and strength tests, a palm court dance tent and demonstrations by the Exeter 4th Rifles for the thousands of members of the public who came to commemorate the centenary of the optimism that was felt at the start of the First World War.. We worked in collaboration with Exeter City Council, Le Navete Bete & Nuts ‘n’ Volts.
