Uncle on Tour

Uncle Tacko’s Flea Circus & Captain Ginger have been wowing the crowds across the country – tireless trips across the country with a trunk-load of restless fleas and a very naughty monkey has seen successes at Huddersfield’s Lawrence Batley Theatre community circus day, Dawlish Warren in Devon and right across to Errdig in North Wales for their Victorian Fair. We are all looking forward to Saturday’s jolly jaunt on Teignmouth seafront.

The Geo Collective

Uncle arrived back in time to change underpants and socks and get out with the English Riviera Global Geopark Collective – celebrating Torbay’s mighty geological landscape. Together with Hugh Nankivell, Ben & Alfie, we heralded the arrival of Nowhere Island of Torquay as part of the Cultural Olympiad by playing games and composing songs such as the following:

Dartmoor Folk Festival

Last weekend was the first outing for Uncle Tacko’s Mighty “Dom-Tink!” or ‘Try Your Strength Machine’; together with a fine first outing by Sergeant Spike, Prom-Prom was out in regimental force testing the biceps of both large and small in South Zeal’s delightful Dartmoor Folk Festival

Pantomime

Plans are well underway for this year’s pantomime at Britain’s oldest working theatre – the lovely Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond. Tony Lidington is both writing and directing this year and being joined by long-standing Prom-Prom stalwarts such as Old Boy Gacko (Gary Bridgens of Poppets Puppets), Dadom (Dominic Goodwin of Dan Leno & Kings of Cloth of Gold) and Bunny (of The Pier Echoes and Munch & Crunch). The Georgian’s pantomimes are renowned as one of the very best family Christmas treats in the whole of the North of England – make sure you book a festive treat yourself and your family soon, as tickets are selling well ahead of last year’s fabulously successful ‘Sinbad’.

Kings of Cloth of Gold

Tony Lidington has been commissioned by Angus & Ross to write a new play for touring to arts centres & rural venues in Autumn/Spring 2012/13. It is a comedy about masculinity based on the meeting of King Henry VIII of England with Francis I of France in 1520 at The Field of the Cloth of Gold. (It is also inspired by the thought of Dominic Goodwin playing Henry VIII in a full suit of armour!) Supported and co-commissioned by the Royal Armouries, Leeds, the show already has a 50 date tour booked, so make sure you get to see it somewhere near you.
